Founder & Builder, Toronto

I build tools and products people keep using.

I work where product, design and engineering meet: websites, AI tools and publications made with care for every detail. Not just working, finished.

Making useful things that feel effortless, calm and properly finished.

I'm a founder based in Toronto. I run UOVA, ZOME, WONE and ZELR, and write about the craft behind them in the Journal. Small details, finished properly, one release at a time.

Selected work

Four projects I founded, each one built to be used and kept in use, from the first sketch to the live site.

UOVA, ZOME, WONE and ZELR are live today. Each plate opens its own site in a new tab, so you can judge the work where it really runs and not in a screenshot or a case study.

From first sketch to live site, handled with care.

I design and build the things I run: websites, AI tools and publications. These are the areas I work in, and how I approach each one.

Product + Publishing

Concept to release

Start small, then get it right.

Deciding what a product is for, cutting what does not help, and shipping a first version early enough to learn from. Each release is looked at honestly before the next one begins.

AI-assisted tools

Models where they save effort.

Language and image models help most when a person stays in charge of the result. I build tools that make a quick first draft and keep the final decision visible and easy to change.

Editorial products

Calm pages that get read.

A publication needs structure, a steady voice and a layout that disappears while someone reads. ZELR is where I work this out in public, one article at a time.

Design + Motion

Interface systems

One language, used everywhere.

Type, spacing, colour and components defined once and applied the same way across a whole site, so every new page feels like it was always part of it.

Motion and interaction

Movement with a reason.

Easing, timing and scroll behaviour that explain what is happening, tuned by feel and checked with numbers, with a calm alternative for anyone who prefers less motion.

Identity and type

A mark and a voice.

Wordmarks, symbols and type pairings that hold up at favicon size and on a full screen, with wording that sounds like a person instead of a template.

Engineering + Graphics

Static-first websites

Readable before it runs.

Complete HTML for every page with one small script on top for motion. Search engines, screen readers and slow phones all receive the full page first.

Real-time graphics

WebGL with a fallback.

Particle systems and shaders in three.js, tiered by device, with a designed still version for when a graphics card is not available or not wanted.

Speed and access

Fast and usable by default.

Budgets for weight and frame time, keyboard paths, visible focus and contrast checked in the browser, treated as part of the build rather than a later pass.

A way of working built around clarity and care.

No surprises, no gaps between steps. A clear path from first conversation to a thing that works.

  1. 01

    Listen

Understanding the purpose, the audience and the limits before any design begins.

  2. 02

    Shape

Layout, type and motion sketched until the idea reads clearly at a glance.

  3. 03

    Build

Static pages, one small script and graphics that fall back gracefully, kept fast.

  4. 04

    Refine

Details, timing and edge cases, then a launch followed by an honest review.
